After spending the last year in the kitchen cooking it up, and posting some development updates along the way, we’re excited to share that our newest offering, Rustici Generator is now available. Our first product to use the power of AI, Rustici Generator is designed to help our customers take the next step in providing valuable learning experiences.
For the past 20+ years, Rustici has helped content and systems play well together by taking on the burden of supporting the standards that make this possible. But when we take a step back and really think about the true job to be done – it’s not just about content and systems compatibility. Making it easier for LMSs to support the wide variety of content their customers show up with – from SCORM to cmi5 and even videos and PDFs – is just the first step. The real need is finding value and making full use of the content that now lives in the LMS. The next challenge is providing tools to help make those large content libraries usable. That’s where Rustici Generator comes into play.
So, what is it?
Rustici Generator is a content processor that parses – or deconstructs – eLearning packages from the most popular authoring tools to help you and your customers better understand training and learning catalogs. This helps with designing more personalized learning experiences by digging deep into those files and packages to really know what’s in the content library.
For this initial release, Rustici Generator offers a suite of features tailored to solve some of the most common pain points that come with managing eLearning content management at scale:
- Create reliable and consistent metadata- From title suggestions and summaries to customizable skills tagging, Rustici Generator fills in the blanks when it comes to course metadata to help organize and curate content catalogs.
- Semantic and lexical search capabilities- Find what you need when you need it by quickly surfacing the most relevant content using natural language that looks both across your catalog and into each package or file.
- Question generation- Save time building out content assessments with question suggestions to help give you a jump start.
- Handle large-scale course catalogs with ease- Rustici Generator can parse a wide variety of eLearning content packages and content file types to automate the transformation and enhancement of multiple files at once.
These features work together to reduce the time, complexity and subject matter expertise required to manage and personalize eLearning content effectively.

Developed to help transform content libraries into dynamic, easily discoverable resources, Rustici Generator tackles the job of helping LMSs and other learning platforms offer improved catalog management and content discovery within their applications.
We understand that every organization’s technical infrastructure is unique. That’s why Rustici Generator is designed with flexibility in mind. Intended to be used alongside Rustici Engine, the tool’s API architecture ensures a smooth integration with existing LMSs, LXPs or other systems that allows our customers to determine which functionalities to integrate into their products and customize the user experience.
In 2025, we have plans to use Rustici Generator to power some new functionality within Content Controller to improve overall catalog management.
When we started this development process, we wanted to be very intentional about using AI to find solutions that make the most sense for our products and our customers. We’re excited about taking our first step and will continue to explore more ways to harness this exciting technology.
