It’s my favorite time of the year in Nashville! No, not Hallo-Thanks-Mas… but hiring season! Although, let’s be honest, I’m not the type of girl to turn down candy, mashed potatoes or presents. But I digress…

Why I love hiring season

Hiring season means I get to spend my days in the office meeting a bunch of really awesome people and learning what makes them tick. What’s not to like about that?! Every morning feels like Christmas morning when I wake up to an inbox full of applicants! Sifting through resumes to find the exact right person for each role is my idea of a perfect puzzle game!

I love hearing each candidate’s story and learning how they resonate with our ethos–you can learn more about that in TJ’s Open Letter to applicants. Speaking of which, that’s relatively new to our site so if you haven’t read it, definitely check it out! It outlines what it takes to work here, what we look for and what it means to be the perfect coworker.

Who we are looking to hire

Currently, we’re looking to add a Software Developer, an Inside Sales Associate and a Client Success Manager to our Franklin, TN (just outside Nashville) office. Don’t fit into one of those categories nicely but still think you should work with us? Check out our always open Diamond in the Rough position.

I’m often asked in interviews what it takes be successful here. While job success is heavily dependent on your role, there are a few things that are true in every case.

  • Be exceptionally competent: come in with ideas about how things you’re knowledgeable about should be done. Be an expert.
  • Be focused; be driven: the people who are successful here believe that hard work and success are its own reward.
  • Be a contributor: be ready to infuse yourself into your work and into all of Rustici Software.
  • Be kind: we spend a lot of time together and life is too short to be nasty to those around you. “Be cool. Don’t be all, like… uncool,” as the wise Countess LuAnn De Lesseps has said.

Did that list sound familiar? It’s totally NOT because I paraphrased TJ’s letter. I mean, I did. But honestly, that’s what it takes to be get here and start down the path of being great here, so consider my summary your Interview Cheat Sheet.
