Content Controller 5.0: Central tracking for VILT with Zoom support and more

With our brand-new Zoom integration, simplified single sign-on (SSO) for the Launcher extension, and expanded video support, you can now manage live virtual training alongside your standard eLearning courses from one central hub.

The headline act: Seamless Zoom integration for VILT

For content publishers and training resellers, virtual instructor-led training (VILT) can be a core offering. However, delivering live meetings to a client who wants the training in a safe and familiar environment (their LMS), while also connecting attendance data to other learner data, is often quite the headache.

With Content Controller 5.0, we’ve made virtual training through Zoom meetings behave exactly like your standard eLearning courses:

• Turn live meetings and virtual scheduled calls into packaged eLearning courses.
• Dispatch and share those virtual classroom courses directly to a client’s LMS.
• Centrally manage your live event catalogs alongside your standard SCORM, cmi5, and LTI packages.
• Verify learners’ basic attendance and attendance duration, exactly as you would expect to do in standards-based packages.

Your clients get a frictionless virtual classroom experience inside their native LMS, and you now have an easy way to share and report on eLearning standards and VILT together.

Expanding your media horizons: YouTube and Vimeo imports

One of the greatest benefits of Content Controller is having an external content hub that helps you manage all of your training assets in one place. Because video continues to dominate the modern learning experience, we have streamlined how you handle external video assets.

In addition to our support for MP4 video files, you can now import YouTube and Vimeo links directly into Content Controller. Whether you’re using these platforms to host product walkthroughs, compliance overviews, or expert interviews, you can now wrap these videos as shareable standards-based packages and track viewer progress just like other courses in your library.

Simpler, more secure tracking with SSO for Launcher

Not every learner has an LMS, which is why our Launcher link packages are so popular for quick content sharing. Historically, tracking learner progress via launcher links required a bit of trade-off between simplicity and data depth.

Content Controller 5.0 introduces built-in SSO (Single Sign-On) capabilities for Launcher, making it incredibly simple to capture learner data with in-application authentication.

Instead of heavy custom development, you simply configure the settings file to match your existing SSO values. When a learner clicks on a launcher link, Content Controller can either grab their existing credentials before launch or pass them through afterward. By integrating with the login system your learners already use, you can easily capture key reporting metrics—including completion, score and duration—without forcing them to navigate a secondary login flow.

Quality of life improvements in Content Controller 5.0

This release also rolls up several valuable updates and features from our recent minor releases, all designed to make using Content Controller a smoother experience:

• Account-level language lists (4.2.x): You can now filter languages at the account level when uploading equivalent courses, ensuring that localized learners see only relevant content translations.
• Deep linking search fix (4.2.x): We resolved a bug that made searching within bundles using Deep Linking much more precise.
• License learner report (4.2.x): Keep a closer eye on your commercial agreements with a CSV license learner report.
• License emails and alerts (4.2.x): Daily emails for license digests can now be set to weekly, and alerts can now be set to send only when limits are exceeded.
• Content Portal activity history CSV report (4.1.x): You can now report on the activity happening within your custom content portal.
