We’ve often said that it takes an excellent team to power Rustici, but there are so many people and departments working behind the scenes who you never have the opportunity to chat with. Throughout the year, we’re giving you a behind the scenes look at the remarkable members of our teams, what they do to help our customers and products and learn a little about our extraordinary people. We’re kicking off the Meet The Team series with the marketing department. After all, if you’ve read our website content or viewed one of our webinars or presentations, the marketing team had a hand in creating the content.
On paper, the marketing department generates interest in our products and company as well as bringing awareness to eLearning standards. In reality, they wrangle a large calendar of events (such as webinars and presentations), balance strategic business initiatives with creativity (including adding an abundance of cmi5 “rocks” references during the xAPI Party) and encourage people to write blogs about their work (like Michael’s first blog). The team enjoys experimenting with new and innovative ways to engage our audience through funny social posts, insightful ebooks, real world case studies and informative presentations with the goal of helping the community with eLearning standards questions and common content questions or concerns. You might find the marketing team supporting sales, account managers and the delight team or helping to recruit new hires and touting our amazing workplace culture.
In 2021, the marketing team was proud to bring you the following Easter eggs:
- 260 “The Rock” references (he’s worth his weight in puns).
- 17 memes and 13 dog pictures throughout 17 speaking presentations.
- 6 new T-shirt designs.
- 1 Star Wars intro rewrite.
And the marketing team is relatively new. Kelley and Alicia joined Rustici in 2020 when everyone was fully remote. The team bonded over a shared love of fantasy: Tara slays as a gamer, Alicia devours books and hopes to write one herself and Kelley nurtures her D&D elf Fengulf. They were finally able to meet in person about eight months later when the office reopened. But someone on the team was keeping a secret! A few weeks later at the first Women’s Wine Wednesday, Kelley ordered water and let everyone know that she was expecting baby #2!
But, one the most important part of the team’s work consists of finding or creating the best (OK, sometimes the worst) jokes and memes. And playing Crokinole. Now, let’s meet the team!
Tara Morey – Marketing Maestro
Tara is the Senior Marketing Manager and leads the charge in the marketing department, including managing content, website and events. Her main focus is on marketing strategy, data analytics and coordination. And coordinating all of marketing’s projects is quite a feat! Out of all her projects, though, Tara says she’s most proud of modernizing Rustici’s branding and websites.
“One of the coolest things I’ve worked on is is designing some pretty neat booths for trade show conferences.”
Alicia Pack – Champion Wordslinger
Alicia is the Technical Copywriter at Rustici and focuses on writing blogs, articles, bios, website content, ebooks and speaking proposals. One of her favorite things to do is adding fun Easter eggs into presentations and her writing. She’s created custom memes and should probably change her job title to “Writes Rock Puns.” (Also, writing this in the third person is really weird.)
“I love that I can write fun blogs and make content magic every day.”
Kelley Griggs – Product Promo Prodigy
As the Product Marketing Manager, Kelley is in charge of making sure anyone visiting our website knows about how beneficial our products can be for importing, playing, tracking and distributing learning content. She is proud of how the team collaborates to effectively communicate with customers and enjoys providing helpful solutions to every prospect and customer.
“My favorite part of my role is listening to prospects and customers.”
What you need to know about the team:
We’re not saying Rusticians are food motivated or anything, but between the fully stocked office kitchen, the magic whiteboard that conjures up our favorite snacks and Thursday’s burrito train on Slack, we do get to know each other’s favorite treats.
