There are just some things that you can’t leave home without when you head out. Keys, wallet, jacket and a charged up phone. Walking out the door with a phone that has no battery is like walking onto a desert island. For most Learning Management Systems (LMSs) on the market, Rustici Engine is that battery that makes their device go with standards and player support. That’s why we are excited to say we’ve charged up Rustici Engine and have released version 24.

This new release focuses on bringing the power of streamlined content import, enhanced interoperability and boosted performance, all while addressing the evolving needs of our diverse customer base. Let’s plug right into how we’re providing the extra voltage to your LMS.

LTI Deep Linking & Enhanced LTI 1.3 Support: Simplifying Content Import

Imagine importing content into your LMS with just a few clicks. With Engine 24’s new support for LTI Deep Linking, this is now a reality. Deep Linking allows Engine to request content portal URLs from LTI 1.3 tools. You simply select the content you want from the portal, and Engine imports it as new courses. This simplified process makes content management a breeze.

Plus, Engine 24 brings significant improvements to LTI 1.3 support, addresses known incompatibilities and ensures smoother interactions with various LTI tools and platforms. If you’ve experienced any integration hiccups in the past, this update should resolve those issues and provide a more reliable connection. As you can see, if you’re using Rustici Engine to power your LTI 1.3 platform, this update is for you!

New Client-side Player API: Improving Learner and LMS Interactions

Just as a well-connected circuit ensures smooth flow of electricity, Engine 24 introduces a new Client-side Player API to streamline the communication between the LMS interface and the Rustici Engine player. Imagine your LMS now being able to display an indicator light or a “Power On” button precisely when a learner completes a course, or showing a loading symbol while the content initializes. This is made possible with the Player API, which allows the Engine player to transmit signals to the LMS’s UI. This feature provides a more responsive experience for learners and enables more efficient communication between Engine and the LMS platform.

.NET 8 Upgrade: Boosting Performance and Security

For our .NET Engine customers, we’ve upgraded to .NET 8. This update brings enhanced security and performance improvements, essentially boosting the overall efficiency of your power source. While the older .NET Framework is still supported by Microsoft, .NET 8 is the newer, more robust platform. This upgrade ensures Engine stays current with your applications and enhances your overall environment, providing a more powerful and reliable current for your system.

We’re thrilled that Rustici Engine 24 is finally here and believe it will significantly enhance your LMS’s performance and efficiency. With new features, improved functionality, and enhanced stability, Engine 24 can streamline processes and provide a smoother user experience.
