Building Articulate Storyline 360 SCORM packages
Articulate Storyline 360 makes it easy and fast to create quality courses. Storyline has a streamlined interface for publishing SCORM packages with the features you generally need.
Below is a quick rundown of the steps to publishing. You’ll find a more in-depth walkthrough of how to publish SCORM packages with Storyline 360 here.
Set basic publishing information
- Create a title, description and where you’ll publish the content.
- Go to the Home tab and click Publish from the toolbar.
- Select the LMS tab on the left.
- Complete the Title and Description options. (Changing the title won’t affect the name of your project file.)
- Use the Folder option to choose where to publish your course. Storyline will then create a folder for your files.
Note: You will want to publish to your local hard drive since publishing to a network drive or USB may cause issues with your output. After publishing to your hard drive, you can test in SCORM Cloud or your LMS.
Set SCORM options
Articulate Storyline 360 allows you to publish standards compliant content for SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 (2nd, 3rd and 4th editions), AICC, xAPI or cmi5.
- Click Reporting and Tracking Options.
- Make sure the Reporting tab is selected, then use the LMS drop-list to choose the appropriate SCORM option. Note: For SCORM 2004, you’ll need to choose the Edition.
- Set the Identifier under LMS Course Information. This will usually become the course ID. General practice is never start a course ID with a number.
- Choose your LMS Reporting option for SCORM and AICC content. This is what your LMS will display for learner’s statuses in reports. This isn’t necessary for cmi5 or xAPI.
Set tracking options
Articulate Storyline 360 provides the option to track any or all three of the following options. Note: whichever option a learner completes first is the one that is reported to your LMS.
- Click the Tracking tab in the Reporting and Tracking dialog box.
- Choose the appropriate tracking option.
- When the learner has viewed # slides: Course completion is triggered when learners view a certain number of slides. You’ll choose a number or percentage then decide which slides to count.
- When the learner completes a quiz: Course completion is triggered based on quiz results. Storyline can keep track of multiple quizzes and send results to your LMS for the first quiz each learner completes. Note: This option is grayed-out if your course doesn’t include any results slides.
- Using triggers: Track learners based on course completion triggers in your course. Learn more about course triggers.
