Product Manager

We are looking for a product manager to join our team.

Rustici Software makes eLearning standards based software. Our software is responsible for launching and tracking standards based online learning for millions of learners. You would join a team that guides the evolution of learning technology software products used worldwide. We are a remote/in-office hybrid company located in Franklin, TN. While we give consideration to local candidates, we are open to qualified remote candidates residing in the United States.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Three or more years in a product management role, particularly for a B2B SaaS product, or similar experience.
  • Strong communication skills, with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Some experience in a technical role. If you once considered becoming a software developer and changed your mind, this might be a great place for you.
  • Experience in eLearning software is a big plus, especially if it’s with one of our products.

What you’ll do

  • Understand the big picture: We have a portfolio of products that solve eLearning problems for hundreds of customers in dozens of industries. While you’ll have primary ownership of our SCORM Cloud product, you’ll need to stay up to speed on all of our current products, customers, use cases, and industry trends.
  • Identify opportunities: Every day, we hear from customers and potential customers about problems that they need to solve. Taking that direct feedback, along with notes from our sales, account management, and support teams, and ideas from our developers, and identifying opportunities to further our strategic goals, provide additional value to our customers, and increase revenue is at the core of the product manager’s role.
  • Build consensus: We have no shortage of work that we could take on. You’ll need to make the case for work you believe we should do, and against work you believe is less urgent. That means discussing the opportunities that you’ve identified with our other teams, articulating the value that solving them would bring to our customers, and listening to what they have to say. Be persuasive, but keep an open mind. Product managers don’t tell people what work to do; they help them find the right work.
  • Collaborate with everyone: Work with development teams to create features that solve the right problems for the right users. Meet with technical and business leads to develop product roadmaps. Coordinate with the marketing, sales, support, and account management teams about upcoming releases. Provide your colleagues with the information about our products that they need in order to do their most important work.

About our work

Every day, millions of people around the world access valuable learning and training content powered by Rustici Software’s products. If you’ve ever taken an online course, there’s a good chance our software was running behind the scenes. We specialize in helping software vendors and organizations solve problems specific to implementing eLearning standards, such as SCORM, xAPI and cmi5. Since 2002, we’ve been sharing our expertise with our customers and the industry by providing resources for creating, delivering and distributing eLearning content. We are proud to be known as the “SCORM folks,” “eLearning nerds” and most recently, productizing AI to assist our customers in better understanding and delivering training.

About the team

We currently have two product managers who are responsible for all of our products, and we are looking to expand on their success and grow the team. As our new product manager, you’ll have primary responsibility for the evolution of our SCORM Cloud product, and you will also have an opportunity to help shape our approach to SaaS product management.
